Mike Hummel

Mike retired in 2023 as General Manager and Chief Executive Officer at Salt River Project. In his 41year career at SRP, Mike served in various executive roles including Engineering, Finance, Planning and Operations. Under Mike’s leadership, SRP was recognized as the highest financially rated public utility in the country, achieving top decile electric system reliability, achieving national recognition for customer service by JD Power, and creating a collaborative and transparent stakeholder process for the implementation of transmission and generation resources. Mike also led the effort to fundamentally change SRP’s resource portfolio to include over 2000MW of utility solar generation and over 1500MW of utility storage. Mike was actively involved on many industry and community boards during his service, including Electric Power Research Institute, Electric Subsector Security Council, Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited, and the Large Public Power Council.
